Plaza Athénée

Once a favourite among stunning personalities such as Grace Kelly and Josephine Baker, the Plaza Athénée is a little jewel of a hotel combining elegance and refinement with the chic of yesteryear.

The Plaza Athénée hotel in Paris

Travellers in search of forgotten sensations are sure to fall under its spell, since this is one of the rare hotels to offer its guests the extreme luxury and splendour of a Parisian palace, reminiscent of a legendary way of life. Hidden behind the façade, between the Eiffel Tower and the banks of the Seine, lies a haven of peace: an inviting, open-sky terrace surrounded by Virginia creeper and bright red geraniums. On a hot summer day, you can sit down and savour a glass of wine — either a new wine or an old favourite — or a plate a gravlax salmon with New Zealand spinach, unless you prefer a tempting macaroni from reputed chef Christophe Michalak. Kids are treated like royalty at the Plaza Athénée and, as the seasons change, the Cour Jardin magically turns into an enchanting playground for our little angels: a traditional merry-go-round in the fall, and a glistening skating rink in the winter.

Ride the famous red bicycle to discover another, more unusual, facet of Paris before retreating into one of the 188 rooms and suites draped in the “Plaza rouge” colours, like the Royale Suite or the Eiffel Suite. Spacious and beautifully decorated, modern yet classical, these four private apartments reflect the refinement and chic of Paris. Then, continue the evening in the gourmet restaurant Ducasse and sip one last exhilarating cocktail, a Rose Royale for example, at the Bar du Plaza Athénée, before calling it a night. Entirely designed by Patrick Jouin, it combines classic and modern, and remains a favourite among  the capital’s VIPs. Fine dining, fantasy, splendour… everything is in place for a most memorable stay, and guests will soon be able to enjoy the hotel’s new spa scheduled to open in a few months.
